This is not a drill! To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Korea, the 2019 Kpop Friendship Concert in Manila transpired last March 7 at the Mall of Asia Arena. The best part?
It’s a free concert and it’s jam-packed with some of the most well-loved groups including NCT Dream, Noir, April, and our very own Silent Sanctuary!
Lucky winners of the 2019 Kpop Friendship Concert in Manila witnessed the heartwarming exchange of culture in a one night only Kpop concert in the SM MOA Arena. They are winners from the SNS event of the 2019 Kpop Friendship Concert in Manila Page and guests coming from the Korean community in the Philippines or Filipino groups that support Korea and its activities in the Philippines.
To welcome everyone are speeches from the Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Han Dong Man who shared his whole speech in Tagalog Language. It is followed by the speech coming from the representative of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Kim Young Sam. Lastly, the warmest greetings came from Commissioner Victorino Mapa Manalo, the executive director of the national archives of the Philippines.
Aside from the Kpop, let’s not forget the witty side of Ryan Bang and Kring Kim who cheered the crowd with their hosting prowess and charms as they share their fun stories about Korea and the Philippines.
Also, children who are from the Philippines and Korea signified the future of both countries as they will continue to strive a better diplomatic and cultural exchange in the years to come. They let go of their colorful paper airplanes and this signals the start of the Kpop concert.
The first act was brought by one of the most sought after Filipino bands, the Silent Sanctuary who swayed the audience and had them enjoy singing along the songs including Di na kita mahal, Baka sakali and Ikaw Lamang.
Noir, who recently held a fan meeting in Manila last December had a formal yet angst look as they sing their songs ‘Airplane Mode, Gangsta and a cover performance of BTS’ Dope.
April, being the only girl group in the line-up showed the audience how they can be sexy, sweet and charming at the same time. The group danced on to their songs ‘Oh! My Mistake, April Story and Take My Hand.”
NCT Dream (엔씨티 Dream) is one the sub-units of the boy group NCT under SM Entertainment The team is composed of six members including Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Chen Le, Jisung and Jaemin. They performed the songs Chewing Gum, We Go Up and Go and My First and Last. This is the first time of the members in the Philippines and they were happy to meet all the NCTzens from the Philippines!
Fans can’t get enough of their idols as the groups performed their top hits!
