A *Weekend* with Taeyeon | Recap of The TENSE in Manila

“It’s a bit of a wide of concept, but I think there will be lots to fill it up with, it can be showing the things we’ve been working on and we can show what direction we are moving forward.”

It’s a celebration of her 10th anniversary but at the same time, Taeyeon chose the show title “The Tense” to give the fans a glimpse of her “past, present and future”– a celebration that goes beyond all “tenses.”

Girls’ Generation’s leader and main vocalist, Kim Taeyeon, turned the SM Mall of Asia Arena into a pink and purple paradise last March 29, 2025, and for sure, no one from the crowd is still over it! It was a night that every PH SONE dreamed of. “Beshie” Taeyeon proved why she’s the ultimate idol, whether in a group or as a soloist, that every fan should stan.

A night filled with our 11:11 dreams

Taeyeon, our favorite star, kicked off the night with “Fabulous” in her equally fabulous *goddess-like* dress, giving off a Greek Queen vibe that matched the stage. She also performed the crowd’s favorites like “I,” “INVU,” “Letter to Myself,” “To. X,” “What Do I Call You,” “Weekend,” and “Four Seasons,” making the arena echo with every SONE’s voice as they sang at the top of their lungs. The lightsticks are in sync with the lights giving off a garden feel.

As she exists the stage, the “Angel Laundry Shop” VCR took over the screen with Taeyeon turning the white angelic laundry shop into a “Hot Mess,” the same song she performed when she re-entered the stage with a dark feel. Aside from that, her stage on “Cold As Hell” is accompanied by powerful laser light show which added more impact to the performance.

Despite not having our favorite “11:11” and “Fine,” who would ever forget “Ending Credits,” which made everyone laugh at the end since it showed a VCR with ending credits, all credited to Taeyeon, from vocals to confetti? Yes! Confetti with written messages showered the fans. It was such a lovely thing for an idol to do for her fans. She ended the night with “Curtain Call” and “U R” as the encore songs.

Sowoneul Malhaebwa (Tell me your wish)

“Thank you so much for singing a song for me. It’s so touching and I love seeing these love messages.”

PH SONEs didn’t come to play—they came prepared! The fan projects were on the next level, and Taeyeon noticed everything. From the pink cloth, butterflies, and banners that she even said were like her shape (talking about Pengsoo), to the big cloth banner with the message for her. “11:11” was not part of the night’s setlist, but the fans made sure to include it, and they sang it for Taeyeon! These projects showed Taeyeon just how much the fans adore her, and her reactions made it all worth it!

Taeyeon Beshie

“Kamusta? Wow! You’re so good at Korean! After 2 years, I’m finally back!” she continued. Moments with Taeyeon just showed how she wants to get closer to her fans. She even said that she remembered “Beshie” and made the crowd’s cheer even louder, which in return, she said that PH SONEs have the best cheers – “Thank you so much for the love and cheers.” She jokingly told the fans that they might be under a lot of stress because of how loud the cheers were – “Yesterday in the hotel it was quiet, but today, because of you, there’s a lot of cheer. I feel that you have a lot of stress,” and the fans laughed in return.

“Thank you so much for spending your time with me. I guess you guys have a louder voice compared to mine. But I think here in Manila, there are a lot of cute fans!”

She noticed some baby Taeyeon photos held up by fans, the fan surrounded by LED lights and the one in an egg costume, with whom she even interacted. The fan’s reaction was also cute! Taeyeon described the night, “It’s like a dream!”

“Salamat po,” “Masaya ako,” “Beshie tayo forever,” “We are beshie” – Taeyeon never forgets how to capture every PH SONE’s heart just by saying Tagalog phrases!

Before singing the last song, she asked for photo time with her crew and the PH SONEs. She ended the night with bowing, waving to the fans as well as making heart poses. “Bye Manila, thank you!” – she shouted before going off the stage.

TAEYEON CONCERT: The TENSE in Manila was a dream come true for every SONE. From hearing her hit the high notes, seeing her dance, and observing how she enjoys every moment with her fans, it just proves how hard she prepared for this show. She even shared that she participated in directing because it’s already been 10 years since she debuted as a soloist to make sure that everyone feels special in every stop of the show.
