Oppa is Life is a fan page created in 2019 when I felt the need for another virtual space to pour out my feels, musings and fangirl experiences. It started as a Facebook fanpage but I later on decided to open other social media accounts because a single Facebook page just doesn’t feel enough.
After months of push and pull, I finally re-opened this blog. This is, to sum up, all my K-culture feels and my recently found love for Chinese and Thai dramas. Sometimes, I share a bit of food and travel stories when I feel like writing. This is also my outlet for what I feel, think, and a few pet peeves about K-issues and annoying kdrama characters.

What’s inside the blog?
Warning: TMI.
DRAMAS
When you hear the term ‘Oppa Is Life,’ the first thing that’ll probably ring to you is Kpop and Kdrama and that’s also the case for me. My first not-so-baby is Kim Hyun Joong when I became a fan of Playful Kiss, and the rest is history.
I am a fan of sports dramas and I just literally bawl my eyes out at times even if I’ve replayed Run On and Racket Boys countless times already. Also, I have a strong fascination for idol dramas like Imitation and Let Me Be Your Knight, perhaps because I am a fan of Kpop too?
At the moment, you’d probably see my cart filled with Park Bo Gum, Park Seo Joon, Lee Junyoung, and Nam Joo Hyuk-related merchandise because they are currently my faves. As for female actresses, I am up to talk about Kim Dami, Jung So Min, Park So Dam, and Kim Tae Ri all-night!
EVENTS
Pre-pandemic, weekends meant life for me because it is all about events. For years now, I had an active fangirl life. I am either at an event, mall tour, concert, k-culture promotions, or at a simple cup sleeve event with my friends. Events are also where I found a lot of friends who became my real-life besties now.
During the pandemic, I got lucky to get invited to numerous press conferences and fangirl events and still managed to join some online cup sleeve events too. Also, when I say events, there are times that I am either a writer or photographer during concerts, fan meetings, or press conferences — but most of the time — a full-fledged fangirl.
A few milestones of my fangirl life include attending the events of Kim Hyun Joong, Seo Kang Joon, Lee Min Ho, and a lot more! I am also happy to partake in the promotions of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics!
CULTURE
I’ve been a contributor for numerous websites and organizations way back in 2014 when I first got super-duper active in Korean culture events. I used to run a food and travel blog named ‘Kimchi Adventures’ in 2016 and ‘Kimchi City’ in 2018.
But even before my blogs, I took part in Korean Cultural Center’s The Krew, their volunteering group where I met a lot of good friends with the same level of passion for Korean culture and beyond. K-culture just doesn’t end with Kpop, there’s also language, arts, food, and sports to it as well.
I used to be a part of Korea.Net, the official publication of the South Korean Government, Manila Korea Times (2017), Korea Tourism Organization’s Wow Korea Supporters (2016-2017) and Learn Korean PH (2017). I am also active in volunteering for Arirang Town PH and I love how we do a yearly huge reunion during PhilKor events.
COLLECTION
The newest content on my blog would probably be the ‘collection.’ I just started my Kdrama collection in 2021 when I decided to sell and give away most of my Kpop merch. I am excited to share about my ‘5-minute overflowing feels’ whenever I unbox merch that arrives at home.
The drama collections I have are a mix of my budols, PR kits from brands, and some gifts from my friends. This is not just limited to Kdrama as I started to collect Chinese drama merch and probably Thai drama merch too in the future.
The collection I am talking about wouldn’t just be about all the fancy unboxing. I’ll be sharing about my difficulties as I search for the best store and sites to shop and the frustration of not pulling my bias’ pc from the ost album.
FOOD
Of course, I can’t get detached from my first blog Kimchi Adventures, where I talk about Korean food. Well, a lot of food! You can still expect me to write about my gastronomic experiences at a random restaurant or just totally fangirl on a dish I randomly ordered.
You’ll probably be surprised by how much I love tteokbokki, kimbap, and iced coffee and how I crave Bahn Mi for weeks! How about having sundobu jjigae for tonight’s dinner?
LIFESTYLE
In 2022, I decided to give a rebirth to my first love — blogging. The lifestyle part I am talking about in 2022 ain’t the same YOLO lifestyle I used to jot down in 2019. This is more of a “What I did versus what I’ll do” in various situations and how I am enjoying the little things in life that are worth storytelling. Perhaps, a bit of WTH-kind of stories at times too.
