Fans of romantic comedies with a twist of suspense are in for a treat this spring as Disney+ is set to exclusively premiere the Japanese remake of the beloved 2017 Korean drama, “Suspicious Partner,” on this May 14.
This exciting new series reimagines the original’s captivating storyline, following the encounter between a sharp but exasperated prosecutor and a quirky judicial trainee who turns his orderly world upside down.

The Japanese remake of “Suspicious Partner” centers on Haruto Tateishi, portrayed by Yusei Yagi, known for his roles in “My Beautiful Man” and “Host Inherited.” Tateishi’s composed life takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with the unconventional Sakura Miyashita, played by former Hinatazaka46 member Kyoko Saito (“Mudtable” and “Sudden Marriage”). Their initial meeting is anything but smooth, with Sakura mistakenly accusing Haruto of a serious offense on a bus.
Despite Haruto’s attempts to distance himself, Sakura becomes an unavoidable presence in his life, leading to a series of both comedic and suspenseful situations. This remake promises to deliver a fresh yet familiar experience for those who enjoyed the original series, blending lighthearted romance with intriguing plot developments.

Behind the scenes, the series boasts a talented crew. Yuka Yasukawa (“The Nighthawk’s First Love”) takes the directorial helm, while the screenplay is penned by Japan Academy Prize winner Yosuke Maisike (“Haken Anime!”). The Japanese remake of “Suspicious Partner” will be available for streaming exclusively on Disney+ starting May 14th.
