Jung Hae In Embraces Romantic Comedy in ‘Love Next Door’

Jung Hae In, known for his roles in romance dramas, shared insights into his first foray into the romantic comedy genre with ‘Love Next Door’. He portrays Seung-hyo, an architect described as “the boy next door who is good looking, has a great personality and is competent.”

“It’s a bit embarrassing and cheesy for me to say this myself,” Haein admitted, but he found a natural connection to the character.

MC Park Kyung Lim echoed the sentiment, suggesting Hae In didn’t need to act much for the role. Jung Hae In agreed, sharing, “I was so grateful and happy as I was filming this piece to the extent that I wondered if there was any other time when I laughed as much on the site.”

Seung Hyo’s charm

When asked about Seung Hyo’s charm, Hae In highlighted his “upright character” and warm-hearted nature. The story takes a comedic turn as Seung Hyo reconnects with Seok Ryu (played by Jung So Min), who knows all his embarrassing secrets which makes a lot of cute scenes between the two.

A ‘Panoramic View of Life’

Seok Ryu is more than just an old friend to Seung Hyo. “She is also like a gumdrop that you can’t get off even if you try,” Hae In explained. “At the same time, she is a precious person who accompanied Seung-hyo in his panoramic view of life.” Jung Hae In shared.

Contrasting with Previous Roles

While Hae In’s previous works like ‘Something in the Rain’ and ‘One Spring Night’ explored love with lyrical and sometimes somber tones, ‘Love Next Door’ offered a lighthearted change. “There were so many situations that were already funny in itself,” he said. “I was very grateful to the writer who wrote the script around such circumstances.”

Additionally, Jung Hae In added that he was grateful for the warm and happy atmosphere at the filming site both on-screen and when the camera is off.

“In Love Next Door, I was so grateful and happy as I was filming this piece to the extent that I wondered if there was any other time when I laughed as much on the site both when the camera was rolling as well as when the camera was not rolling.” – Jung Hae In
