For a very long time, I felt like the stars I looked up to were just too far away to ever reach. As a BIGBANG fan, I spent years dreaming of seeing them in person, but as time went by, I almost gave up on that childhood wish. However, 2025 changed everything for me. It became a year of healing and happiness because I finally got to see my living legends, Taeyang and G-Dragon, in the same year. It felt like a gift to my younger self who had waited so long for this moment to finally come true.
Yeorobun, it’s a beautiful day with Taeyang
The magic started on February 22 when Taeyang brought his “The Light Year” concert to the MOA Arena in Manila. There are no words to describe the feeling of seeing him stand there in front of me after all these years. When he sang “Eyes, Nose, Lips,” the whole arena felt like one big family. We all knew every single word, singing “Mianhae, mianhae hajima” at the top of our lungs like we were all going through a breakup together. He also performed his classic hits like “Wedding Dress,” “I’ll Be There,” and the high-energy “Ringa Linga.” Every song he sang felt like a special anthem made just for us–just us, his VIPs.
One of the sweetest parts of the night was when Taeyang sang “Palagi” by TJ Monterde. He actually performed it twice, and it was so moving that I couldn’t help but cry. I think a lot of other people were crying too! We also got to hear him say his famous “Yeorobun” greeting, which made the night feel complete.
Even though it was a solo show, he didn’t forget our roots; he performed BIGBANG favorites like “If You,” “Blue,” and “Loser.” I even found myself sobbing while dancing to “Bang Bang Bang” and “Fantastic Baby” because the joy of hearing those songs live was just overwhelming.
Bringing back the crown to where it belongs– G-Dragon!
A few months later, the excitement continued with G-Dragon, and the anticipation felt almost heavy because he has been away for so long. Even though I couldn’t make it to his “Ubermensch” concert in Manila, I didn’t let that stop me from supporting him, and I finally had the chance to watch him perform live at the 2025 MAMA Awards last November 28–29. The moment he stepped onto the stage, the energy in the room shifted completely, and it felt like the King had finally returned to his throne. Seeing him perform “Drama” with so much style, followed by the deep emotion of “Untitled, 2014,” and the classic energy of “Heartbreaker,” reminded me exactly why he is a global icon that no one can replace.
It was a massive night for him as he swept the awards, and I felt a huge wave of pride every time his name was called. He won Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Male Artist, along with many other trophies that proved his music still touches everyone. Watching him stand on that stage, holding his awards and performing with such incredible power, made me feel so proud to be a fan.
Seeing both Taeyang and G-Dragon shine so brightly this year made me realize that some dreams are truly worth waiting for, no matter how many years go by or how long the wait feels. This year didn’t just give me great concerts but gave me a sense of peace and joy that I had been looking for since I was a kid. It was the perfect way to close a long chapter of waiting and start a new one filled with these amazing memories that I will keep in my heart forever. Knowing that my legends are still at the top of their game makes me feel like I can achieve my own stars, too.
