Attending Smart Hallyu Hangouts with Son Ye Jin, Hyun Bin and Cha Eun Woo

Mikhaela Javier3 years ago1 year ago06 mins

The 16-year old version of me would be so proud of my current self as I finally get a chance to join hangouts with idols! As a fan of After School Club, I’ve tried to apply so many times just to join my idol’s guesting but it never worked out.

But then, since we believe that there’s always a perfect timing for everything, I had the chance to do it three times in 2021! I still can’t believe that despite the pandemic, I had the chance to virtually meet some of my idols including Son Ye Jin, Hyun Bin, and Cha Eun Woo. Here’s the full experience:

Super grateful for the opportunity from Smart for giving me the chance to join Son Ye Jin’s Hallyu Hangout last July and Hyun Bin’s online fanmeet last August 2021. Lucky enough, I started the year 2022 with Cha Eun Woo’s Hallyu Hangout too in January!

Hallyu Hangouts with Son Ye Jin

A usual day turned upside down when I got an email inviting me to join the Smart Hallyu Hangouts. As a fan of Son Ye Jin ever since I watched the drama ‘Personal Taste,’ I always love to watch her dramas and films and so I’ll never pass in this kind of opportunity.

We already know that Son Ye Jin is a kind-hearted person but she even brought some goodies for the fans who participated in the event. She’s just so kind to shop gifts and raffled them to us, the fans. The event is live so we had a lot of moments where we just watch the interview before our turn. It’s also cute how she often interacts with us on-screen even if we are all muted.

To add more to my Son Ye Jin Hallyu Hangouts memory lane, I also became a background as she bids everyone goodbye as the online fanmeet ends!

Hallyu Hangouts with Hyun Bin

Never in my entire fangirl life would I imagine interacting with Hyun Bin! Hyun Bin is just one of the legendary oppas that’s on my cousin’s favorite list. Since ‘Secret Garden’ days, to be exact, the days when we are only starting to shift from Friendster to Facebook, we would talk about how many times we replayed the drama and use Hyun Bin’s photo as our profile pictures.

So actually having the chance to wave at Hyun Bin and Hyun Bin waving back at us hits different. Even after the event, I am just literally spacing out and smiling.

Hallyu Hangouts with Cha Eun Woo

Meeting Cha Eun Woo is like a dream come true too. Although I don’t spazz a lot about him, I became a fan when I first watched his drama Top Management where I almost shipped him with Ahn Hyo Seop. That drama is just so cute that I watched all his dramas after that.

Among all the Hallyu hangout experiences I had, this is probably the shortest since we got cut off accidentally after the segment but I am still glad that we have a group photo with him as well! Also, I am super thankful that I don’t feel alone during the event because three of my friends were also present.

Thank you so much Smart for these opportunities!

Disclaimer: Oppa Is Life is a part of Smart’s promotions during the Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin Hallyu Hangouts and only got invited by a friend to join Cha Eun Woo’s event. Everything written on this post is all based on my personal experience before, during, and after the event.

Oppa is Life is a page I created in 2019 when I felt the need for another virtual space to pour out my feels, musings and fangirl experiences. It started as a Facebook fanpage but I later on decided to open other social media accounts because a single Facebook page just doesn’t feel enough.
