K-Drama and Orchestra Harmony: A Fan’s Dream at the OST Symphony Concert

The K-Drama OST concert last June 29, 2024 at the Metropolitan Theater was like a dream come true for me! As a huge fan of both K-dramas and orchestral music, seeing them come together was pure magic.

The Metropolitan Theater itself was stunning, so grand and historic. It felt like the perfect setting for this special event. And the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra – wow! I never knew that I’d witness them perform in front of me. They made the K-drama soundtracks sound even more beautiful than they do on my phone. Hearing the full orchestra play “You Are My Everything” from “Descendants of the Sun”, “Onara” from “Jewel in the Palace”, and “I Will Go To You Like the First Snow” from “Goblin” gave me goosebumps. It was nostalgic, as if the episodes played back on my mind.

Honestly, the best part was the surprise singers. When Gaho came out to sing “Start” from “Itaewon Class,” I almost couldn’t believe it! But I became more thrilled when he went down the stage and performed “Running” from “Start Up”. He was my go-to K-drama OST singer so I was really happy that time. Everyone around me sang along, maybe I was a little off-key sometimes, but who cares? The whole theater was filled with so much energy.

There was this wonderful sense of community – everyone there, young and old, seemed to be united by their love for K-dramas and the power of their music. We sang and smiled at the sweet K-drama clips they played, and just had the best time. It wasn’t just a concert, it was like a celebration of how much these K-dramas and their music mean to us all. It was another level of “kilig” for me.

I was particularly amazed by the violin solo performance. There’s something about orchestral music that just transports me – during the concert, I felt like I was in a state of pure bliss. It was the same feeling I get whenever I attend the annual recitals of our school’s orchestra students. Their music creates this sense of calm, warmth, and peace that washes over me.

I knew almost every song that was played during the concert, so it was like a trip down memory lane. Reliving those favorite K-drama moments with the music, all while surrounded by fellow fans and the enchantment of orchestral music, made this night magical.

Leaving the theater after the concert, I felt happy, calm, and with a renewed appreciation for the beauty of music. This concert was the best of both worlds for me – K-dramas and orchestra music together! It was an experience I will never forget!
