Rising P-pop girl group KAIA has made a bold fashion statement by partnering with acclaimed Filipino designer Chynna Mamawal. The collaboration, showcased in a dazzling runway show on August 27, introduced a limited-edition merchandise collection, “KAIA x Wear CASA.”
Mamawal, known for her couture designs, aims for versatility and comfort in this collection. “This is my version of street style, Y2K, and casual,” she shared. The pieces, featuring a mix of denim, streetwear, and monochromatic colors, are easy to mix and match, making them perfect for everyday wear. Trendy elements like jorts, mini skirts, and an oversized aesthetic complete the look, with the KAIA logo proudly displayed on each item.
KAIA emphasized the importance of comfort and inclusivity. The collection offers a range of sizes and unisex designs, catering to a wide audience. “This is our personal style, but at the same time, you also have your own,” KAIA member Sophia stated. “We stayed with monochromatic colors. It’s up to you if you want to put a pop of color in it to at least make your own style.”
Mamawal’s passion for P-pop shines through in this collaboration. “I really like P-pop… P-pop is ours,” she expressed. “So, we should support them, and we should collaborate with them because we’re both Filipinos.” She also praised KAIA’s talent and dedication.
For KAIA, this collaboration is more than just about fashion; it’s about showcasing Filipino artistry and the growing influence of P-pop. “This collection is for everyone, and this is a movement of P-pop in fashion,” Angela, a KAIA member, shared.
The “KAIA x Wear CASA” collection marks a significant step forward for P-pop’s foray into the fashion world. It highlights the genre’s growing influence and its ability to seamlessly blend music and style. With its emphasis on comfort, individuality, and Filipino artistry, the collection sets a new standard for P-pop merchandise and paves the way for future collaborations that push the boundaries of creativity.
Prices are expected to range from PHP 1,000 to PHP 2,500, making it accessible to a broad audience. Limited-edition pieces and casual wear will be available through pre-order and regular retail, respectively.
