Korean film “The Moon” will land in PH cinemas this August 16!

Get your hanky ready as the South Korean thriller and survival drama “The Moon” 더 문 starring Do Kyung Soo (EXO D.O), Kim Hee Ae and Sol Kyung Gu will premiere nationwide in Philippine cinemas this August 16!

According to its Diretcor Kim Yonghwa, the film “The Moon” which premiered in South Korea last August 2 will demonstrate the emotional depth of South Korean films in terms of space-themed films. The film also garnered numerous positive response from the moviegoers.

“I wanted to create a film that not only demonstrates technical excellence but also fulfills emotional depth, believing that Korean cinema has grown enough to set itself apart from many other space-themed films,” he says.

Director Kim is known for his works “200 Pound Beauty”, “Take Off” and “Along with the Gods”. He believes that the Korean film technology will be able to create a distinct and high-quality film that circulates in “The Moon.”

Director Kim also shared his insights about the realistic plot because of the current capacity of South Korea in carrying out various scientific missions. He shared that in 2022, the first lunar exploration space craft of the country called “Danuri-ho” took its flight followed by the third launch of it just May this year.

The film circulates in the story of astronaut Sun Woo (played by EXO’s Do Kyung Soo popularly known as D.O). He travels to the moon to complete his mission. As he tries to complete his mission, Sun Woo became isolated and needs to survive in an unknown lunar environment. With the help of former flight director Jae Gook (played by actor Sul Kyung Gu), Sun Woo tries to escape the obstacles so he can return back to Earth.

“The spectacle of the vast universe is intertwined with the story of humanity,” Sul Kyung Gu shared when he was asked on how he would best describe the film. “It is a movie that gives hope, courage and comfort.” On the other hand, Do Kyung Soo shared that the movie would also inspire its audience by giving hope, courage and comfort.

“The Moon” will land in Philippine cinemas this August 16. The film is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.
