It was a night filled with love, surprises and wonderful memories. Choi Woo Shik kept his promises of meeting the fans in Manila for the Choi Woo Shik Pinky Promise Fanmeeting in Manila, the second stop of his Asia Fanmeeting after Japan.
Pre-event happenings
Held last November 16 at the SM Skydome, the fans of Choi Woo Shik gathered early to do a mini-gathering over a cupsleeve event. Choi Woo Shik Philippines also prepared banners and gifts for Our Beloved Woo Shik. Fans were able to write down their messages for their favorite actor and the organizer also prepared a board where fans could also send in their questions for him.
Tonight, he kept his pinky promise
The show started with a performance of Lee Seung Yeon’s The Giving Tree (언덕나무) by Choi Woo Shik followed by his greeting. It might not be his first landing in Manila but this is the first time that Choi Woo Shik formally meets his Manila fans through a fanmeeting.
“The Choi Woo Shik Pinky Promise is coined from my promise of meeting the fans face-to-face after the pandemic where I only meet them virtually.” – Choi Woo Shik shared when asked on how they decided on the title of the show.
Greetings for Choi Woo Shik
Choi Woo Shik received special messages and greetings from Park Seo Jun, Park Hyung Sik, Jung Yumi and Kim Taehyung through a series of videos presented on stage. All of them congratulated him for successfully having a fanmeeting overseas and they are cheering for him even if they are not present at the venue physically.
Aside from the greetings, they also prepared questions for their friend Woo Shik who gamely answered it for the fans. One of the questions include “If we are to shoot In the Soop Friendcation again, where would you like to do it?” Choi Woo Shik answered that he would love to bring the Wooga squad in the Philippines as well.
The ultimate fan experience
Aside from the questions from his friends, Choi Woo Shik also grated the requests of some lucky fans fans including polaroid photos, signed merchandise and selca. the fans also had the chance to play with him through an on-stage game.
“Hello Choi Woo Shik oppa”
Among the players on stage, one of the fan favorites is a five-year old kid in her Our Beloved Summer Kook Yeon Su uniform who confidently went up on stage and said hello to her “Choi Woo Shik oppa.”
Love Light
A special clip also played before Choi Woo Shik’s performance. He shared that he asked Jung Yong Hwa of CN Blue for help in this performance. He then performed “Love Light” (사랑 빛) for the fans.
The Choi Woo Shik Awards
Following the fun and sweet performance of our darling is the fun “Choi Woo Shik Awards” where he presented the best of Choi Woo Shik’s characters in the industry. Right after, he presented the actual trophy he got when they won Parasite and the audience gave him a standing ovation. Choi Woo Shik thanked the fans wearing his cute big smile.
A farewell and a pinky promise
Choi Woo Shik closed his fanmeeting with a performance of “Poom,” a collab song he made with Peakboy. Aside from bidding a farewell to the fans, Choi Woo Shik made a pinky promise to return to Manila to meet the fans once again after he watched the heartwarming fan project prepared by the fans. Everyone who attended the fanmeeting also had a fun memory of meeting him up-close since all ticket tiers had a chance for the hi-bye session.
