The chase and adrenaline in the movie 'The RoundUp' | Film Review

The unstoppable chase from Vietnam to South Korea made our hearts skip a beat while watching Ma Suk Do (Ma Dong Seok) go after Kang Hae Sang (Son Suk Ku) in the film The RoundUp.

I had my first company dinner with my new work and our boss treated us to the film screening of ‘The RoundUp’ in SM Mall of Asia. Perhaps, it’s a welcome party for me? Here’s why it’s a must-see if you are after movies that’ll bring you an adrenaline rush!

The RoundUp reviews from K-Netizens

The film made a huge buzz online thanks to the popularity of Son Suk Ku and Ma Dong Suk. When the film was screened in South Korea, the drama My Liberation Notes is also airing. At the same time, the film The RoundUp used to be a popular film in Korea before and this is just the second part.

When we watched the film in SM Mall of Asia, more than half of the cinemagoers are Koreans. Thus, we all know that it is surely a big hit in their country.

Ma Dong Seok and his angst

I’ve seen Ma Dong Seok in the films Train to Busan, Start-Up, and the drama Shut Up Flower Boyband. Every time I see him in a show, I already know that it is going to be intense and heart-stopping at the same time.

True enough, he lives up to the expectation of people. He is one of the rare actors who can portray characters that are angst but comedic at the same time. When I previously watched Start-Up, his film with Jung Hae In, I’ve always been amazed at how this man can shift from a funny guy to a serious thug-like heroine. The RoundUp is no exception to this.

The portrayal of Son Suk Ku as Kang Hae Sang

I am totally in love with Son Suk Ku with the drama My Liberation Notes. Then all of a sudden here comes this film that turned him into a villain. Yes, this film just creeped me out. I am not a fan of crime films and dramas because I enjoy heartwarming and comedy films lately but I have to say that he aced his character here.

If he played the mysterious guy in My Liberation Notes, they doubled the mystery here and tripled the intense scenes. All the chases are all worth watching. From Vietnam to South Korea, Kang Hae Sang is the unlawful yet unbeatable guy you wouldn’t want to mess up with.

The RoundUp will be having its third season this 2023 and I can’t wait to watch it too!
